Summary
I was disappointed to see the Sun Journal editorial Jan. 27 criticizing Rep. Deb Simpson, D-Auburn, for some of the bills that she has submitted for the upcoming legislative session.
The editorial focused largely on a bill that Simpson submitted at the request of a constituent to extend the black powder hunting season by one week, and suggested that the bill's coinciding with the tragic death of a teenager at the hands of an unskilled hunter was insensitive. I have served with Simpson for more than four years, and to suggest that she is insensitive to the victims of any form of violence is completely untrue and uncalled for. For her entire legislative career, Simpson has been a tireless leader and advocate for the victims of domestic violence and gun safety.
