Soldiers Help Car Crash Victims

RUMFORD - Maine Army National Guard soldiers passing through Rumford in a convoy on Saturday stopped what they were doing to help local emergency responders handle a two-car accident on Route 2.

At 11:58 a.m., a 2005 Ford Focus driven by Brandon Edwards, 33, of Rumford was stopped on Route 2 to make a left turn into the parking lot of Sam's Italian Restaurant and Judy's Variety store when a 2002 Pontiac Grand-Am driven by Jennifer L. Fuller, 23, of Rumford slammed into the Ford from behind, according to a police report by investigating Patrolman Michael Belanger.
