Society Plans Tours of Historic Carthage

Summary

CARTHAGE - The Carthage Historical Society has planned a series of tours to visit landmarks of local interest. The younger generations will have an opportunity to learn about the town's history from the older citizens.

At one time there were seven mills on Webb River, and their sites will be explored during the tours. Many other spots will be visited, such as Gobies Road, several cemeteries, some of which have the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers, Fuller Flats, the Pest House, the Race Track and homestead sites, including the cellar hole of the birthplace of the legendary Grizzly Adams.
