MEXICO - Two glass jars filled with pennies that last month occupied the kitchen table have since been relegated to the top of a nearby bureau in the Highland Terrace home of Joe and Marjorie Richard.

Each day, Marjorie Richard takes a penny from one jar and places it in the other, marking her son, Sgt. Jarod Richard's time in the war zone of northern Baghdad with 49 other soldiers of the Army National Guard's 172nd Maine Mountain Men regiment.
