Renowned Mimedancer Coming to Lovell

Summary

LOVELL - She's a lizard. An aging gunslinger yearning for his youth. A whole baseball team. An exasperated baby sitter. A tiger. She's Karen Montanaro, performing her unique blend of mime and dance in her internationally famous "Tanzspiel." And she'll take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Lovell's Brick Church for the Performing Arts.

"Tanzspiel" (German for dance-play) is a one-woman performance of athleticism, artistry and imagination. "I can be anything I want to be," said Montanaro. Soundlessly, her body becomes a fluid, regal tiger, flicking its tail (her foot) and surveying its domain. In the next act, she may perform the essence of baseball - pitcher, batter, catcher, avid fan, each with his own familiar quirks and chews and waggles - culminating in the pitcher's impossible corkscrew wind- up. Or she may burst into pure, magical ballet.
