People buying new vehicles pay excise tax on the full sticker price of a vehicle for six years. Buyers should pay excise tax on the actual price paid, not on the sticker price. On a $20,000 vehicle, we would pay about $1,500 extra, then make payments on a loan that includes a high rate of interest.
We should pay a sales tax the first year, without the excise tax, then pay excise tax at $20 per $1,000 and less thereafter. I support Rep. John McDonough and the Legislature for that proposal, and hope others do also.See the full content of this document
