Portland Stage Offering 'Comedy On the Stairs'

PORTLAND - Portland Stage Company will participate in the First Friday Art Walk Friday, Sept. 4, with a series of comedic readings and songs performed by the company's Affiliate Artists, a collective of local theater professionals.

From 5 to 5:30 p.m., the "Comedy on the Stairs" program will feature the poems of Shel Silverstein for audiences of all ages. The remainder of the evening, until 7:30 p.m. will offer laugh-out-loud performances of scenes ranging from Monty Python to Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" to "When Harry Met Sally," with a sprinkling of high-energy show tunes.
