Norway and Paris paid tribute to veterans Monday with parades and memorial services designed to honor those who died while serving in the armed forces.
The Norway parade began at Advertiser Square. Soldiers marched with members of Donna Bouchard's Karate Academy and the Oxford Hills Middle School Band down Main Street to the Stone-Smart American Legion Hall, where a service was held across the street at the Norway Veteran's Memorial. Flags were raised in honor of the 34 soldiers from Norway who have been killed in action in conflicts ranging from World War I to the war on terror. Historical pieces, such as President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, were read, followed by a speech by Arthur Gouin Jr., and a ceremonial salute by a U.S. Army firing squad.See the full content of this document
