LEWISTON -- A federal jury awarded $1.25 million to a 19-year- old Massachusetts man who sued a longtime local dentist and prominent businessman for sexually abusing the teen when he was a young boy.
The U.S. District Court jury found Sarto Anthony Sasseville liable after a four-day trial in Portland, awarding the plaintiff $1.1 million in punitive damages and $150,000 in compensatory damages. The plaintiff argued in his complaint that Sasseville's actions were "so outrageous and beyond the bounds of decency so as to shock the conscience of the community."See the full content of this document
