Summary
Growing up with a chronic life-threatening medical condition, I never thought that I would one day be able to have my own child. After about six years of marriage, my husband and I started to research the possibilities and obtain opinions from medical specialists. On Oct. 17, 2003, we gave birth to Benjamin, who is now a wonderful, healthy 4-year-old.
Once Benjamin was old enough, he started asking if he would have a brother or a sister like his friends at school. Now knowing how lucky we were to have him and my health, I thought it was foolish to think about having another child.
