PORTLAND -- The Portland Pirates are again searching for a National Hockey League affiliate after the Buffalo Sabres announced Friday that they have agreed to purchase the Rochester Americans of the AHL and will affiliate with that franchise to begin the 2011-12 hockey season.
"We are pleased to welcome Terry Pegula and the Buffalo Sabres as owners in the American Hockey League," AHL CEO David Andrews said in a news release Friday.
